A plain, old door? Maybe. OR – a door that can open a passageway into a whole new world!

A plain, old door? Maybe. OR – a door that can open a passageway into a whole new world! At ABA Maryland, we like new worlds and opportunities! Tutoring is one of several integrated services at ABA Maryland designed with your child in mind. Tutoring helps students gain confidence in their ability to learn, provides additional opportunities to explore learning strategies, and practice newly acquired skills while continuing to use and improve existing skills.

Learning is an adventure. It can happen anywhere and take you everywhere! One of the goals of this blog is to stimulate a desire to learn something about anything! I nearly always learn something new as I search the world over (mostly via the Internet) for blog-worthy information that I think will be of interest to viewers. Two of my favorite topics are art and social studies, and I particularly love artwork made by kids (kid-art is so creative and not bound by any rules!). Social studies generously employs art to provide visuals to help people better understand various concepts that are being taught/discussed.

For this inaugural blog, the image below is a good example of art in nature. It’s called “The Eye of the World,” or “The Eye of Africa,” and “The Eye of the Sahara.” It is located in the western edge of the Sahara Desert in Mauritania and is a naturally occurring geologic phenomenon. It’s about 25 miles in diameter and was first seen from outer space. It consists of concentric circles of igneous rock and other material. Use it as a jump off point to discuss science, culture, art, math, etc. with your class, maybe around the dinner table, or other opportunities.

Check out the links below for more information on how this wonder of the world was formed and how to make your own concentric circles!

And WELCOME to our blog!
